Anna Vissi

Anna Vissi is a Cypriot éntekhno & pop/dance pop singer primarily, songwriter, label co-owner, radio producer, and stage actress. Born on the 20th of December 1957 in Pyla, Larnaca, Cyprus.
At the age of thirteen, she entered a song contest of ΡΙΚ TV Station and won first prize. On 2 September 1973, her family moved to Athens, Greece. Οn 16 September 1977, she won the first place in the 16th Song Festival of Thessaloniki with the song "Ας Κάνουμε Απόψε Μια Αρχή". On 19 April 1980, she participated in the 25th Eurovision Song Contest representing Greece with the song "Autostop". On 24 April 1982, she represented her native Cyprus at the 27th Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Μόνο Η Αγάπη". Her acquaintance with Νίκος Καρβέλας in the early 1980s brought about changes both in her artistic career and in her life. He urged her to change her musical style from the until then éntekhno to pop/dance pop. In 1982, together they established the label Carvi Productions (a combination of their last names). On 14 May 1983, they got married in Larnaca, Cyprus by the President of the Republic of Cyprus. In November of the same year, she gave birth to their daughter, Σοφία Καρβέλα. The couple separated in 1992, but they got their formal divorce much later than 2000. In 1988, she made her debut as a radio producer on Ant1 Radio 97.5. On 29 August 2004, she performed at the closing ceremony of the XXVIII Olympiad, in Athens, Greece. On 20 May 2006, she participated in the 51st Eurovision Song Contest representing Greece with the song "Everything".
Younger sister of Λία Βίσση & older sister of Νίκη Μπούφη - Βίσση. Aunt of Ζανίνα & Nick Piliouris (Lea's children) and Βέρα Μπούφη (Nike's daughter). She was sister-in-law of Γιάννης Πηλιούρης & Σάββας Σάββα (both Lea's former husbands).
