For me it's still a mystery why this rock band didn't make the breakthrough to the international scene. Apart from Germany, and some peripherical success in countries like my own, Portugal (where many gigs took place, and this band was respected in the same level as bands like Bush, Stone Temple Pilots, Incubus, or even Placebo), Guano Apes never made it to crucial markets like UK or the US.
Unfortunatelly they have already ceased their career, but their work will remain, and prove them to be one of the most refreshing alternative rock bands ever.
