Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft

Profile:

Frequently acronymized to D.A.F. or DAF.

German electro-punk project from Düsseldorf, West Germany, formed in 1978 by Gabriel "Gabi" Delgado-López (vocals), Robert Görl (drums, percussion, electronic instruments), Kurt "Pyrolator" Dahlke (electronic instruments), Michael Kemner (bass-guitar) and Wolfgang Spelmans (guitar). Kurt Dahlke was replaced by Chrislo Haas (electronic instruments, bass-guitar, saxophone) in 1979.

The group initially split in 1982, but reformed in 1985 and were occasionally inactive for short periods until their final disbandment upon the death of Delgado-Lopez of a heart attack in March 2020. The duo had planned to do a DAF album in 2020 but what with things taking an unexpected, dramatic turn, Görl instead assembled old material from the band's 1980s work and wrote new lyrics which Görl sang and released as Nur Noch Einer which can be translated as "just one more" or "one last album", but also as "down to one".
