Nomeansno is a Canadian punk rock band originally from Victoria, now located in Vancouver. Formed in 1979 by brothers Rob & John Wright, their name derives from an anti-date rape slogan. On September 24, 2016 John Wright announced the band's official retirement.

Well, the boys really earned their pension honestly. I've seen them play live minimum ten times now, and accumulated a lot of their records.
As a young boy, the Wrong LP seemed like a kind of revelation to me, when I first realized that music can be further more than I had ever realized before.
They shaped me, showed me what honest music is and almost earned a heart attack while dancing Pogo at a live gig in summer heat. . .
One can only bow before em, wishing all the best for a well deserved retirement
and say "Thank´s for all"

Great news on vinyl rereleases from Alternative Tentacles!
"They are working on remastering the records now. It's taking a long time due to everyone's schedules, but it's happening", so says someone from the label.

Greetings everybody, John here from NMN and with a heavy heart I must announce the retirement of No Means No. A hiatus became a long hiatus and a lingering hiatus has become a permanent one. Thirty-five years and countless miles, a couple thousand shows and many more beers, a bunch of tunes and sweaty hoards of great fans, I can't say thanks enough to everyone. I will continue to post here on our page about the Robots and future projects if and when they happen. Hoping to have the debut Compressorhead album out by next march so you have not heard the last of things yet. So cheers everyone! Raise a glass….xo

I just saw them live a few hours ago. Oct 1, 2011. This group has more energy, precision, passion and humor than most bands thirty years younger. I can't imagine them ever stopping. But, then again, only so many songs can be sung with two lips, two lungs and one tongue.
