Björk Guðmundsdóttir (Icelandic pronunciation: [ˈpjœr̥k ˈkvʏðmʏntsˌtoʊhtɪr]), known by her stage name Björk, is an awarded Icelandic singer, songwriter, musician and producer, born 21 November 1965 in Reykjavík known for her highly experimental material. "Rolling Stone" music magazine placed Bjork 60th at their "100 Greatest vocalists of all time" list. In 1997, Björk has been awarded with the Icelandic "Order of the Falcon".

In 1996, Ricardo López, was planning to send a mail bomb to Björk's residency in London, England as a form of ending his long-lasting obsession towards her. After mailing the bomb, López comitted suicide in his house in Hollywood, Florida. Thankfully the bomb was never delivered to Björk. After the incident, Björk moved out to Spain.

When forming The Sugarcubes, Björk had a brief marriage with guitarist Þór Eldon. They had a son, Sindri Eldon Þórsson, born 8 June 1986, the same day that the band was formed. They had divorced before the end of 1986, but continued to work together in the band. Björk was the partner of Matthew Barney from 2000 to 2013; they have a daughter, Isadora Barney, born in 2002.
