Vienna (16)

Profile:

Formed sometime in 1984, Académie comprised vocalist Odile Arias, her brother Dominique and Thierry Martinez. Académie soon changed their name to Vienna – reportedly an homage to the Ultravox track – and released the single “Say You Love Me (Tu As Juré)” in 1986. That track garnered some decent attention and they signed to RCA though never released an album on the label.
In 1987, they switched to Mute Sonet France (the French sister label of Mute, which was Depeche Mode’s label). Arias met Depeche Mode and she dated Martin Gore for a while. In the DM documentary “101” you can see Arias with Gore. No album emerged on Mute Sonet either, and by 1989 Vienna had split up. Arias had a brief solo career.
