Infected Mushroom

Infected Mushroom

Profile:
Psy-Trance duo from Israel.

Infected Mushroom is one of the most popular representatives of the Israeli Psy-Trance scene.

Because of their constant musical development, Erez Aizen and Amit Duvdevani were able to gather a huge international fanbase around them.
After the release of their third album "B.P.Empire", they moved away from the established Israeli Psy-Trance sound, giving their music an experimental character.

Infected Mushroom relocated to Los Angeles in early 2006.

I got into Infected mushroom when living in a squat in London 2002 and loved their ealy tunes, i saw play them couple of times at the Stratford rex, Astral pheonix parties so i did get to see them when they were still good, however only their first 3 albums were really any good, BP EMPIRE, THE GATHERING & CLASSICAL MUSHROOM, everything else after that became more and more commercial sounding.
Their last few albums have been pretty fuckin horrid, intro's followed by booming sections of beat with same booming bassline and then degenerating into gitch style with no sign of a kick drum in sight, sorry but psy trance and glitch just don't blend well together, then there are those horrible fuckin vocals that make me cringe, I mean they are embarrassingly bad!! allmost like bad asan dance music!
It's a shame guys like this are so prolific where as a real psy trance maestro like Simon Posford hasn't released a new album for years at leat not under his Hallucinogen alias!!

The lollipop group in the psy trance community. May work out for the beginners and for those not familiar with real psychadelic trance music. But i guess most of their fans are not listen to psy trance in general and know nothing about the culture and the spirit. Nothing for an oldschool bone shaker seeking for deep mind travels or a space trip.

these guys successfully got me into experimental electronic five years back. at the time i was just listening to electronic bangers i found on the internet and shit, but finding these guys gave me an introduction into a complex hellfire unpredictable style of electronica. i would download literally any track they had online just to find it was total cash. they have changed a whole lot since their inception and every new version of the mushroom is refreshing and interesting. these two guys are a staple and will always be for the experimental electronic and experimental edm craze.

IM on psytrance and psybient is IM at their best. their electronic rock and electro stuff isn't bad either (especially the darker/evil sounding tracks). they manage to keep a signature sound all throughout incarnations though, unlike what you hear from many EDM artists nowadays.

These guys were at the top of their psytrance game at one point of time. They took psytrance to insane limits that no other psytrance producers ever dared. Around 2011, they fell from chaotic grace to pursue a career in gimmicky production.

Crazy, cheeky, sexy, intense palettes of sound moulded into a soup of psychedelic fairy tales. The heavy aggressive side influenced by the Israeli political and religious conflicts. A fusion of classical structured symphonies, reinforced with heavy guitar and relentless trance beats. Every track is an experience.
Need to be listened on high-end sound equipment to appreciate the full effect of the music. Best tracks include 'Elation Station' 'Jeenge' 'Unbalanced' 'Heavyweight' 'Suleiman' 'Dancing with Kadafi' and 'Eat it raw'

Highest level of music production available today...

Converting Vegeterians was a huge step forward for Infected Mushroom. It was the first album being created in their new studio. (The first three albums have been conceived in the same studio in Tel Aviv) Also, it's the first album that has vocal in it. No album before that one has vocals on any tracks. Now I guess it's common pratice with Infected Mushroom, since with their last album, there is more tracks with vocal than tracks without! Some say it's a bad thing, but personnaly it doesn't bother me much.

Dark full-on psychedelic trance with screaming acid lines and tasteful original classical undertones. Definitely some of the best sound designers and maybe the most innovative psy-trance producers in the last few years. Check out these tracks: Bust a Move, Psycho (live version) & Release Me (but almost all their stuff is really good). Best complete album in my opinion is The Gathering.
