Kaj Magnusson

Real Name:

Kaj Stefan Magnusson

Profile:

Kaj Magnusson, born 17 September 1951, is a Swedish bass and guitar player, as well as a composer, vocalist, performer and player of all sorts of exotic (and not so exotic) string instruments. His career spans over almost 50 years, making world music/folk rock in Swedish, often for children (or in a very playful manner in Musikgruppen RAA, somewhat similar to fellow Swedes Samla Mammas Manna). His career started when he and three kindred spirits founded MRAA in 1973, a group that existed with various changes in membership - official and unofficial - until 1983, and again since 1991. Somewhere inbetween, he found the time to mix his world music with pedagogical performances for children in his and fellow MRAA member Bert Kolker's music & theatre group Låt & Leklaget, a Swedish performance and workshop group directly aimed at children, having existed since 1979.

Never one to rest on his laurels (although he was 70 in 2021), he is continuing making music for kids in Folkbus, a trio that also consists of acclaimed violinist Maria Hulthén and multiinstrumentalist and composer Stellan Sagvik (another founding father of MRAA), releasing the odd album now and then with all three groups. incl. the first ever on Sagvik's own record label Nosag Records 1992 (Musikgruppen RAA - Musikgruppen RAA 1973-83: RAAriteter).
