Låt & Leklaget

Profile:

Låt & Leklaget ("The Song And Play Team"), is Sweden's most lasting, pedagogical musical and theatre group of sorts, telling humouristic stories for children while playing on various, exotic instruments (mainly from East and West Africa, as well as South America), something that can be heard already on their first release, 'Afrikaresan' ("The African Journey") from 1983, an album telling little stories about various animals and places in Africa. The Gambian kora player Jali Nyama Suso (who wrote The Gambia's national anthem), who lived in Sweden for several years, wrote about half of the material.

Låt & Leklaget was founded by Kaj Magnusson (Musikgruppen RAA) in 1979, and Bert Kolker, his co-founding member of Musik-gruppen RAA, was also a member 1979-88. They've so far performed their scenic shows more than 4,000 times in Sweden and the Nordic countries. They've had their own radio and TV shows, and have worked with various artists such as Tina Ahlin and Esbjörn Svensson.
