Les Rout (born 1935 in Chicago, IL; died 1987) was an American baritone saxophonist best known for his work in The Paul Winter Sextet in 1961 and 1962. Rout took up the saxophone at the age of 13. He was a student at Loyola University when he met Paul Winter in 1960 and he became a founding member of the Sextet. His final performance with the group was the concert at the Kennedy White House on November 19, 1962. Rout gave up his music career to pursue a PhD in Latin American history and taught for 20 years at Michigan State University.
