The Darkness

Profile:
The Darkness is a British rock band formed in Lowestoft, Suffolk in 2000 by brothers Justin Hawkins and Dan Hawkins. Together with Frankie Poullain and Ed Graham the band recorded and released their debut album Permission to Land in 2003. Poullain left the band in 2005 and was replaced by Richie Edwards, before the release of One Way Ticket to Hell ...and Back. Lead-singer Justin Hawkins announced he had left the band in October 2006.

On 15 March 2011, after a 5-year hiatus, The Darkness announced a reunion. The following year they released their third studio album, Hot Cakes. Drummer Ed Graham was replaced by Emily Dolan Davies for the album Last of Our Kind (2015), she left the band before the album was even released. With their new drummer, Rufus Taylor (2), The Darkness have released two studio albums: Pinewood Smile (2017) and Easter Is Cancelled (2019).

The latest release "Last of our kind" is a fantastic Collection of well arranged rock songs. After the third time listen to this record you are hooked!
Great riffs and extraordinay vocal performences! For me this album is on the top 5 list of the year!

I was sure they were from the 80's, at lease 90's...
Well their music are good :) I like the high vocals :p Their first is their best !

But I don't think thay are the new "Queen". First, "new" isn't appropriate to describe them. Second, they are not revolutionnary, they just tried to keep the 80's hard rock alive (wish, even if I really like this kind of music, is dead...).

I think we need something new... But if they made this in the 80's, they probably been a good one !!!

Both the public and critics alike might call them the new 'Queen' but personally I don't think they are either that or anything already out there from Aerosmith, Poison, Guns, Europe, later-Status Quo or Kiss that this group of retro-trendies have more in common with. Rock music for parties once you're drunk enough (and wishfully with long hair) praying the DJ won't play anything softer - groovy, yes; appealing, try with above groups. Especially Queen.
