Liberty Records, being pretty clueless about putting the band with a producer who had any sort of idea or vision beyond the cookie-cutter West Coast Psychedelia of the 60's (AKA $$$), gave Hour Glass the runaround and ultimately caused the band to run back to Alabama and into the history books with The Allmans and Capricorn Records. Some great moments here, but the production on both records is pretty limp, and who knows what they could have been in the hands of someone more capable. Great for Duane and Greg enthusiasts and lovers of more rootsy pop-psych.
