Formed by John Zewizz around 1980, Sleep Chamber has had a wide assortment of members, and performed a wide variety of music. Very early works were very experimental in nature, with elements of musique concrete. Shortly thereafter Sleep Chamber was recording ritual/ambient music, which continued into the early 1990s. In the mid-1980s the band also began working with more electro/EBM material, often meshed with their ritual works. This trend generally continued and took on additional rock-oriented dimensions in the 1990s. Around 2000 the project became effectively silent, but in February 2009 Sleepchamber (new spelling) are back with brand new albums. They're currently recording a new album of more evolved Electronic/EDM to be released just prior to their 2016 tour of Europe, where they will be once again visiting Germany as well as Israel and a few other countries. Strong rumor has it this will be their last tour, according to Zewizz' website. Boston area (other U.S.?) shows could be a possibility, but have not been verified. Front man John Zewizz is also working on a solo album of mostly original music, with a cover or two including Peggy Lee's "Fever".
