Hip Hop For Respect

Hip Hop For Respect

Hip Hop For Respect is not necessarily an artist directly. It is a project organized and created by Mos Def and Talib Kweli to speak out against police brutality. The project came together in 2000 on Rawkus Records with a host of MC's featured as guests.

The artists included the organizers: Mos Def, Talib Kweli. As well as guest MC's: Kool G Rap, Rah Digga, Sporty Thievz, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Common, Pharoahe Monch, Posdnous of De La Soul, Dante and Main Flow of Mood, Nine, Tiye Phoenix, Breezly Brewin' of The Juggaknots, Punchline, Imani Uzuri, EL-P and Mr. Len of Company Flow, Jah Born of Medina Green, What? What?, John Forte, Fre, J-Live, Rubix, Invincible, Wordsworth, A.L., Kofi Taha, Tame One, Jane Doe, Grafh, Shyheim, Channel Live, Wise Intelligent, Crunch Lo, Rock of Heltah Skeltah, Nonchalant, Ras Kass, Dead Prez, and Parrish Smith of EPMD. Producers included: Mr. Khallyl, Organized Noize Productions and 88-Keys.

NOTE To Users: Technically this is not an artist and the Rawkus release "Hip Hop For Respect" should be entered as "Various". However due to the large number of artists that appear, and in order to clean up the sloppy and confusing look of the page, the artist "Hip-Hop For Respect" was created. Its only members are Mos Def and Talib Kweli, the organizers of the project. For the sake of less confusion, please do not add all of the other MC's that appear above to this group.
