just stumbled across these releases, and man.. it's 80's NY Garage / early Chicago acid / early techno merged with those Todd Terry influenced tracky tribal techno sounds.. this release series is a cheeky homage, particularly from the labels being in likeness and style of the various anonymous bootleg repress labels originating from NY of classic disco, funk and soul (think JVS Records, Inc., TD, Records Inc., R & S, Records Inc. etc). if you like some jack in your pumped up grooves, you can't go wrong with these tone pieces. the sample sources are from all over the place, including dialogue from Scarface, then Jungle Brothers, Armando, Dominatrix, Jack Master (Hawtin), Carl Craig / The Good Men, Inner City, Pal Joey / Earth People, Submission (Cevin Fisher), Lamont Dozier - Going Back to My Roots, and then f'ing DHS, all with Todd Terry channeled back through. the Going Back to My Roots 12" predates the current (circa 2014 and on-going) hardcore / breakbeat house revival, i kept on thinking of the Hypnotist - The House Is Mine when I first heard it.
