Misha Verbitsky (b. June 20, 1969 in Moscow) is a Russian mathematician, controversial publicist and independent music publisher, founder of UR-Realist label.

He studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1990-1991 and received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Harvard University in 1995. Misha worked with Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) at Princeton University in 1996-1997, later he joined the European Post-Doctoral Institute. In 2002-2007, Misha worked at the University of Glasgow, since 2008 he started working at the University Of Tokyo. Verbitsky was a staff member at the Institute for Theoretical and Experimental Physics in Moscow in 2003-2010. Misha teaches at the Université libre de Bruxelles since 2015. He also read lectures at the Independent University of Moscow since 1996.

Verbitsky defines himself as a communist, anarchist, satanist and anti-copyright propagandist. He found an independent underground label UR-Realist and counterculture web-publication :LENIN: in 1998. The label released over 40 albums on CD, including seminal works of Rada & Ternovnik, Kooperativ Nishtyak, Black Lukich, Grazhdanskaya Oborona. Previously he published various other successful web-publications and almanacs, including END OF THE WORLD NEWS and CEBEP ("The North").
