The Ginger Bread Men

Profile:
Rising up from a world of failed relationships and wasted potential, a beacon of hope has struck. “Run, run, run, fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I’m the GingerBread Man.” The GingerBread Me - the very name evokes comical images of dancing spice-men with belts of icing - not these Gingerbread Men. This platter is lethal. It contains the hopes and dreams of three men from Boston, MA.
Carl Thien (vocals, bass) and Mike Mooney (vocals, drums) met in a Cambridge paint factory where Mike was a batchman and Carl a tinter. Together they decided to color the town Ginger, and their band was born. Paul Martinez (guitar) was found in a Museum of Fine Arts warehouse nursing his 2 foot mane while perfecting intricate riffs and chugging rhythms. Carl and Mike brought Paul into the sunlight, and the final GBM lineup was complete.
Mike’s main influence remains Mission of Burma (he is the guy on the left on the cover to ‘The Horrible Truth About Burma’), Paul’s is all manner of info from Guitar for the Practicing Musician, while Carl favors the first three albums each of Queen, Be-Bop Deluxe, and Blue Oyster Cult.
GBM have created their own sound, a sound both sparse and lush, with power and glory to spare. -Carl (6/25/89)
