Volker Straebel is a Berlin-based musicologist focusing on experimental music and sound art.
He is the director of the Master’s program Sound Studies and Sonic Arts at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). 2009-14, he ran the Electronic Music Studio at the Technical University Berlin, and 2002-14 he served as a program advisor to MaerzMusik, an annual contemporary music festival of Berliner Festspiele.
Straebel also composes and performs electro-acoustic music and has realized indeterminate works by John Cage and others.
