The Viper began in 1985 with the demo The Killera Sword, formed by André Matos (Vocals), Pit Passarell (Bass), Yves Passarel (Guitar), Felipe Machado (Guitar) and Cássio Audi (Drums). Soon came Soldiers of Sunrise, in 1987. In that period the drummer was the musician Cássio Audi.
In 1989 they released the album Theater of Fate, with the keyboard player Junior Andrade. However, due to musical differences with the rest of the band and very busy with his music college, André Matos leaves the Viper to focus on his musical studies and Pit Passarel takes the lead.
The group released another album, Evolution, recorded by new drummer Renato Graccia, who had already toured the Theater of Fate tour.
He came on tour in Japan and a subsequent live album (Maniacs in Japan).
They then release Coma Rage and Have Everyone, but the latter barely hits stores due to the bankruptcy of the band's new label at the time, Castle. With this unexpected, the band stopped, returning years later.
In 2005, the band returned with Ricardo Bocci on vocals, Val Santos on guitar and Guilherme Martin (who had previously played in the band) on drums. The band released in August 2005 the DVD Living For the Night - 20 Years of Viper, containing images and videos of the band's entire career.
Also in 2005 the band released a demo with new songs. Guilherme Martin left the group in 2005 and joined the band Luxúria. Renato Graccia (who also played in the band) returned to the Viper instead. Today, Yves Passarel plays in the Initial Capital.
In 2007, the band released the album All My Life. They started the tour the same year, and due to personal projects, in 2009 they declared a pause. Felipe Machado is dedicating himself to his profession as a journalist, Pit Passarell is with a solo band, Renato Graccia with a band mix of Blues and Rock, Marcelo Mello is giving guitar lessons and Ricardo Bocci started his tour of the single "My Way "giving a show on July 24 at the Centro Cultural São Paulo (CCSP) and on the 10th (together with Rafael Bittencourt) and September 11 (along with the Sphaera Rock Orchestra) at CCSP.
To Live Again Tour And Return Of Andre Matos
In 2012, the band announced the To Live Again Tour to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the album Soldiers of Sunrise, where they performed for the first time in full the albums Soldiers of Sunrise and Theater of Fate. The first concert took place on July 1 in the city of São Paulo, with the return of vocalist Andre Matos after 22 years since his departure for the band Angra and the classic formation of Pit Passarell, Felipe Machado and Guilherme Martin. The guitarist Hugo Mariutti played in the place of Yves Passarell, who eventually made appearances during the tour.
During the tour, the band even opened the Kiss shows for the US band's performances in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
The band Viper launches a live DVD of the To Live Again Tour in 2013 and will also possibly tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the evolution album released in 1992.
In September 2013, the band participated in the metal day of Rock in Rio 2013, along with André Matos, who was touring his then new solo album.
