Gary Barwin was born in Northern Ireland on February 10, 1964, a day when “neither planets nor tins of soup aligned.” On the street where he grew up, the neighborhood children often gathered in a big group, playing spontaneous games, holding contests and making up great dramas. At age nine, he and his family moved to Canada. In grade six he created his first book, to sell at the school white elephant sale: “Cosmic Herbert and the Pencil Forest.”
