Profile:
English progressive/space/psychedelic rock band founded in 1983 in Somerset. They fuse jazz rock, hard rock and acid rock with influences from world music into an energetic, slick, variegated sound to produce a synthesis that sounds both ambitious and natural. The band's output is instrumental, with only a few minor exceptions.

Over the course of 40 years, the band has released over 30 albums selling over a million copies worldwide despite never having signed to a major recording label. Throughout numerous line-up changes, co-founder and guitarist Ed Wynne has remained the sole original member of the band.

ozrics are one of my favourite bands of all time, enough said. and that is why the new ed wynne remasters are such a disappointment to me... the new mixes just sound muddy with lumpy bass and lack the brightness of high frequencies. that mix works fine for ed's latest albums but not this. not only does that also still hold true for the new LPs but the coloured vinyl also has a scratchy sound quality which doesn't help and some sleeves are painfully low quality. they look nice and that's about it. it's true that the original cd mixes may sound a bit thin in comparison, but the original vinyl pressings sound absolutely phenomenal and are the only ones worth having. they should not have been touched.

I came across the Ozrics in the early 90s when they first broke through into the semi-mainstream. I had their first couple of CD albums but never really kept up with their newer releases. A couple of years ago I decided to check back in. What a treat! They never stopped. Die-hard acid-rockers.

Love Ozrics but doing an A/B comparison of the originals and the Ed Wynne remasters (Digital versions, not vinyl) was extremely disappointing. Drums muffled on most except Strangeitude. Sounds almost like everything was remastered from old cassettes; maybe they were since I think the actual masters burned up in Ed's house fire. Was going to but the new Vitamin Enhanced but definitely won't now.

How has this band flew under my radar for so many years? Very glad their CDs and vinyl are getting re-issued, already snagged quite a good collection so far! Great space rock music, very much recommended to anyone who enjoys other psychedelic-sounding music like Shpongle.

Strangely , in the credits for Tantric Obstacles, Ben Smith co wrote Shards of Ice, and I can;t find no other mention of him. Any clues guys ?

Somerset & England's finest. I'm so glad that they've reissued their brilliant back catalogue on vinyl, it was the right thing to do for this legendary, crusty, genius band. =)

How do I get some of the MP3/FLAC albums listed here? I've never found a source for them. Are they different to regular albums, content wise? Anybody help? Thanks.

What are the chances of tracking down and digitising the cassettes they would get blank from fans, fill with music and send back to them. Wonder how many they did.
