When someone asks me what real Progressive Trance is, I immediately point them to Breeder. Though their back catalog is comparatively small, there are very few productions with their tag that don't absolutely define 1:00 am, lose yourself on the dance floor madness. Rumor has it the duo formed specifically to produce tracks for Sasha and Digweed and if you've heard their sets from those years or had the pleasure of being there (I was too young unfortunately) you would know how important they were to cementing their careers at the time. Beyond the twisted use of acid lines and perfectly deployed add/subtract rhythms, their tracks stand out still as club destroyers. One of the few projects with so few productions that would be included in the classic category.

An amazing production and remix duo that defined the harder progressive trance genre of the late 90's/early 2000's: wicked acid bass lines, relentless thumping drums, and melodic synth lines that are always inventive, never formulaic, and certainly never cheesy. Their last production, Carnival XIII, was a little disappointing compared to nearly all of their prior releases, but is this it from this amazing group? Here's hoping there's more to come.

BTW, "Angel Dust" is also known as "Beetlejuice", and "Sputnik" is also known as "New York FM" (the name changed depending on which label it was released on).
