Among the top 5 shows I've ever seen, most certainly. Their show was better than The Swans, and Chris and Cosey. I could add others to that list...they blew away Psychic TV. Listening to their albums, you can play "Guess What I've Got in My Record Collection" if you like, but I can play that game with damn near every band. It doesn't make The Soft Moon any less brilliant, incredible, strange, gorgeous. Live their stuff sounds and feels completely their own. I also have never seen anyone perform who was as into it as Luis. Seriously. My God/s, he put every particle of his being into that show. He makes '86 vintage Blixa Bargeld look detached. I didn't hear a single mistake, either - they're a finely honed machine. Genius.

Some garage rock hipster kids ripping off Skinny Puppy. I'm sure it sounds cool if you know nothing about the bands they're blatantly ripping off and watering down but I find it embarrassing

When I first heard The Soft Moon back in 2010/2011, I was equally fascinated and afraid of falling for the charm - it sounded too good to be true. It sadly proved to be a one-trick pony - amazing beyond belief on first listen (or a few more), but with every next one, the image and the sound disperse in the air like a generic 3D fog effect.

Impressive a live act, on record The Soft Moon happen to be plain novelty that will never free itself from its brute force reverb melancholy. The problem is not the repetition itself - there are nice intentions here... however, the main concern is the audible struggle for a dynamic that is constantly degraded by mono-tons of lazy excuse of an idea for a "song". The end result is The Soft Moon sounds like a victim of its own hype presenting it as work of art when in fact it is more artificial like, with only a partial sense of aesthetic. The latest move is an utterly disposable mutilation of a John Foxx classic.
