Strafe Für Rebellion

Strafe Für Rebellion

A duo of Bernd Kastner (born in 1957 in Düsseldorf, Germany) and Siegfried Michail Syniuga, Strafe Für Rebellion ("Punishment For Rebellion" - later known as Strafe F.R.) started in 1979. Over the course of several albums, they developed a personal style of abstract instrumental music that owed a lot to their use of home-made instruments, found objects and field recordings. They dissolved quietly in the mid 90s, after releasing the "Pianoguitar" album. Strafe FR returned to the scene in mid 2014 with a new album entitled "Sulphur Spring".

One of the most original and intriguing groups I've ever heard - music that defies any categorisation. What more can you wish for? From their early avantgarde to more sophisticated music now regarded by many as 'field recordings'. A group sadly neglected in favour of their 'brothers in noise' - DAF and Einsturzende Neubauten for instance, as luckier matters of a listener's choice. But maybe that's what Strafe FR always wanted. The group still records and remains obscure on equal terms. Although all of the group's albums are masterpieces in their own right, essential listening fairly stands for the three: 'Santa Maria', LP, Touch, 1986; 'Vogel', CD, Touch, 1989; 'Oschsle - Bad people Have No Songs', CD, Staalplaat, 1992. Pure Freude indeed!
