Michel Vogel was born in Strasbourg in 1941.
After a career in agriculture and agronomy, he devoted himself permanently
his creative activity from 1980.
By the mid 1960s, he experimented on a work matter whether mineral or sound
and is over time and encounters his musical universe which combines mainly
free jazz, extra-European music, Olivier Messiaen, and later the Baroque,
John Cage, Philip Corner, Morton Feldman, Tom Johnson, Giacinto Scelsi.
In 1965, he created a series of paintings materialists, then gradually moving
to wood and metal sculpture.
In 1988, the "encounter" with a brass plate in-principle for a sculpture opens the door (voice?) Sound. Other plates follow and gradually form an instrumentarium significant
gongs and bells platforms that keeps growing since then.
His friend Philip Corner interested in his work and during his visits to Paris, first played solo and in duet with Michael Vogel on instrumentarium created by the latter.
Since then, Michel Vogel continued his musical compositions and performs her solo
or with other musicians from the jazz and improvised music. It is part including
the collective "In hear" and has just released his first album in LP Planam, Alga Marghen.
Not being trained musician, Michel Vogel develops his music "his way", a mixture of improvisation and rigor. It is better defined as a sound sculptor and metal ringer.
