Kool Keith is by far an artist and rapper ahead of his time pretty much a hip-hop version Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and James Joyce. Since 1988 he has been known to constantly change with the eras with multiple aliases, unique and often juvenile wordplay, competitive disses and various references to Sci-fi films, cartoons and horror films. Although been dogged by constant rumours been sent to a mental institution and has a lot of hit and miss releases in his later (self-produced) 2000s back catalogue he is one you should always approach to expect the unexpected.

Among his golden era tenure in The Ultramagnetic MCs and the obvious Dr. Octagon album (backed by Dan The Automator and Kutmasta Kurt respectively) There is the recently chilled out Jazz hop album "Time Astonishing" with l'Orange, the hedonistic and boom bap filled "Sex Style" and great couplings with rappers/producers who compliment him with such projects as The Cenobites and Masters of Illusion. His collaboration work is something else and quite wide-ranged, as he is probably the only rapper I have known to have an extensive CV from rapping with the likes of Mike Patton, ODB, The Pretenders, DJ Spooky, Tom Waits to The Prodigy. So in short, he is definitely one for your ears if you love Hip-Hop and influenced so many.
