Brecht Ameel

Real Name:
Brecht Ameel
Apart from being the half core of Razen, embodies the personae of the master guitar player in the purest form. Using resonator mandolin and guitar he blends European traditions of finger picking into a silent, melancholy world in which suppressed emotion and unspoken poetry are the key words.

Brecht plays the guitar with clear influence from early but also from the contemporary music. Very sweet, abrupted and deep sounds that evoque a unique reflection of the listener with the music. In my opinion, he avoids influences from the american sounds (besides he uses resonator guitar) and step further, creating a very personal sound based on an European tradition, which is something hard to find nowadays. This is a needed project that (maybe) dissconect with a more contemplative and horizontal perspective of music that he shows with Razen. He is a visionary with a very special artistic sensibility. I cannot recommend Brecht enough, a truly ambassador for the contemporary European culture wth a recognizable unique identity.
