Nicolò Fontei

Profile:
Italian composer Fontei, Nicholas, born at Orciano di Pesaro, presumably in the early years of the 17th century.

There is no history regarding the family and his musical education. Certain is his education as organist that enabled him, in 1638, to fill the post of organist at the church of St. Mary of the Crociferis in Venice, the city in which he lived probably as early as 1634. Traceable back to 1637-38 also the vocation to the priesthood, which led him to wear the cassock.
