Tony King, a North Carolina native (born June 27, 1957), has played on stage and in the studio with some of the best country artists in the world including a 16 year run with Brooks & Dunn. He has performed with Holly Dunn, Vince Gill, Faith Hill, Chely Wright, Vern Gosdin and Reba McEntire. He has written songs that have been recorded by Brooks and Dunn, Rhonda Vincent, Barbara Fairchild and Ricky Van Shelton, who charted to #1 with King's song "I've Cried My Last Tear for You". King has performed on The Tonight Show, Letterman, the ACM’s, the CMA’s, Grammies, American Music Awards, Nashville Now, and Austin City Limits. He had his own record deal on Columbia Records with Matthews, Wright and King.
King's first love was flatpicking and playing Bluegrass. He played and sang with J.D. Crowe from 1983-86. He has recently returned to playing Bluegrass with Donna Ulisse and The Poor Mountain Boys.
