I completely agree with both comments. I could not say it any better..it isn't for everyone but if you are not in a hurry
and appreciate subtle nuances in music, this is your man.

Over the last two or three years Morton Feldman has become my favourite composer! It started with a cheap copy of String Quartet (1979) on a Naxos CD, I was intrigued by its length and pace, it was not in a hurry at all and was all the better for it.
So I began to seek out other long pieces by him "For Philip Guston" (which is incredible) "String Quartet No.2" (all 6 amazing hours of it) performed by Flux Quartet, "Crippled Symmetry" "For Christian Wolff" ( a very lovely work) and more besides!
I now have 31 Feldman CDs in my collection and have not heard anything I dislike in any of his works (this is very rare for me), I listen almost everyday and do not get in the least bit tired of hearing his music, it's simply brilliant!
A truly unique composer indeed!

Morton Feldman's avantgarde minimalism is not the avantgarde of Cage/Xenakis where 'anything is music' up to the point of meaninglessness, nor the minimalism of Glass/Reich where a motif is neurotically repeated ad nauseam. No, here patterns also reoccur but as freshly transfigured new entities, bathed in a radiance of calmness and floating around a space of meditative quiteness. Unlike Pärt/Gorecki, there is nothing Holy here, but similar to Pärt/Gorecki, music serves as the vehicle to manifest and glorify Silence per se.
