This is one from the Golden age of the UK Tech-house scene (1994-2003). Gideon Jackson started dj-ing and throwing parties in 1988. He first did illegal raves at beaches, parks and in private houses. Soon after his skills catapulted him into performing at major Wiggle parties in the biggest London clubs: The End, The Rocket, SW1 (now Pacha), Optical and Fabric. In the beginning of the 2000’s he earned a 2 monthly residencies at Fabric and Stereo Studio in Zagreb. After that he did international gigs in Germany, Belgium, Greece, Italy, Macedonia and Croatia as well as far-east countries such as Singapore and Malaysia. His DJ-sets can be described as a solid warehouse vibe with a hypnotic backbone that at some level affects the subconsciousness. Sometimes Acidic, Moldy, Deep but always trippy. He also got a nickname “Dread-tech Manoeuvres'” because of his long dreads at the time.

Since 1996 he started producing as one part of 'Outa The Blue' a partnership with Rob Hallums. Those OTB records are now highly sought after and there is a reason for that. The music bubbles under without ever banging to hard. It embraces electronica without the noodling, It's always funky but never a formula, US house without the divas and techno without the ego. Something Terry Francis like to refer as: “Houseno” a breed between House and Techno. Because of that some of his releases landed on the highly acclaimed “Tech-House Bible” compilations “Architecture part 1 and 2” by Terry Francis. The compilation also features the then obscure but because of that now highly sought after: Electrospy – Voice. Speaking of which also check the super selector "Tech House Classics" compilations by Dave Mothersole, an unreal selection of timeless tracks. Gideon Jackson was also an executive producer for the Tech House Phenomena series.

His first solo release was “The Exordium EP” on the less known TOT Records label from London. Around the time Gideon Jackson also featured in a documentary that dealt with the challenges of the (club) music industry "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAiEg4kY_-0". He also owned a studio which became a breeding place for his (co) productions with classical and modern equipment to make the perfect mix in his productions. His studio skills with the keyboard brought him into featuring in some productions of Double Trouble (Just Keep Rockin / Street Tuff). He also did some live-acts around the London area. He featured on Kiss FM in the show of Dave Mothersole. Gideon also had his own radio show on londonliveanddirect.

Despite all this hard work i think Gideon didn’t have much DJ-sets to make a longer career. That’s why in 2006 he stopped producing and since 2009 he replaced his DJing life for a career as a professional football coach. He devoted himself to his pedagogic career at Crystal Palace football club and other institutions. You can check his LinkedIn account. Occasionally on special request he still performs at small venues in the UK or abroad.

On a personal note a few years back you could fetch most of his back catalogue for 1-2 euro’s and in my case, I bought one of the Outa the Blue releases for 10 cents! But since Zip, Binh, Villalobos and the Romanian selectors brought his music to all the famous clubs in the world, they got high in demand. It already happed earlier to the Come On / Oh Yi Yi Ep because they both where featured on big compilations and years after that the a:rpia:r crew started playing it. But ask yourself the question do you think if one record by a producer is in high demand, will the others be not that good? Well wake up, there are much better ones in his catalogues! Its all in the ear of the beholder. Go dig and find out yourself but hurry the people have found out already. I’ll give up one secret: Matt Shanahan ‎– Matt's Piano Fever. In my eyes one of his best. It's just not right that this record is so unknown. Everything is right about this record. The vocals "melancholy sounds taking/lifting you to a higher ground" the strings and hook and most definatly the unstoppable groove. People need to know this, it feels heart breaking. Just because it was out of fashion and people where listening to heartless minimal music at the time. Gideon deserved more credits! At the time The Rødhåd was spending his berlin weekends at home listening to Basic Channel thinking he was crazy because he still liked this kind of music and any one else was listening and producing dull soulless minimal. While doing so he planned his sinister Dystopian plans. Always stay true to yourself! Also if you listen to the highly sought after Housey Doingz productions it's insane when you hear them, all those tracks came out of 5 like-minded souls. Gentlemen if you read this, the people are ready for a 4 ep's repress actionpack of career spanning Housey Doingz collection ;0) Also in the US they have some very good "Tech" producers Omni AM and EBE (Lucas Rodenbush).

So that was the story about Gideon Jackson together with peers like Eddie Richards, Terry Francis, Dave Mothersole, Pure Science, Aubrey, Mark Ambrose, Colin Dale, Charles Webster, Swayzak and Nathan Coles a vital part of the Golden generation of the UK Tech-House scene.
