American Rapper, Singer, Dancer, Model, and Actress.
Hailing from Chicago, Illinois, Robin Herron attended a Performing Arts High School and began dancing and modeling in her teens. By 1988, Robin had already cheerleaded for the Chicago Bulls and became a dancer on the US television show "Soul Train". Her "Soul Train" connections led her to appear in music videos such as Young MC's "Bust A Move" and The U-Krew's "If U Were Mine", as well as films such as "House Party" and "Coming to America". She soon caught the eye of Prince. After receiving Robin's demo of "Undercover Lover", Prince reworked the song and signed Robin to Paisley Park Records, rechristening her as 'Robin Power'. Robin was then chosen as a guest host for the Prince-backed "New Power Generation Radio Show" (aired in Minneapolis via KMOJ) and was written into the script of Prince's 1990 film "Graffiti Bridge", in which her song "Number 1" was featured but was not included on the soundtrack album. During this time, Robin earned two Paisley Park vocal credits: one on Prince's "New Power Generation" and another on The Time's "Shake!" B-side, "The Latest Fashion." She would also provide uncredited vocals on the b-sides "Horny Pony" (Gett Off) and "Loveleft, Loveright" (New Power Generation) and appeared in the "Thieves In The Temple" video during this period.
In 1991, with the help of Prince, Robin recruited female musicians for her band 'The Uptown Dames'. Robin Power & The Uptown Dames wrote and rehearsed for an appearance in Glam Slam Minneapolis. The Dames received little to no assistance in production from Prince. Robin Power & The Uptown Dames performed their first and only show on April 3rd, 1991. Unfortunately, the band was not well received by Prince, leaving Robin and the Dames to seek an outside record deal before breaking up.
In the same year, Robin also appeared in Damian Dame's "Right Down To It" music video.
Robin would later perform a solo show at Glam Slam Yokohama, star in multiple Playboy Adult Videos, and appear in Prince's "Sexy MF" video (as seen in "3 Chains O' Gold") before leaving Paisley Park.
After her time with Prince at Paisley Park, Robin would appear in Ice Cube's "It Was A Good Day" video, N.W.A.'s "Appetite For Destruction" video, and work as an interior designer (for clients including Dr. Dre) and personal trainer. She would also marry (and later divorce) NBA player Donald Royal, with whom she had her daughter. In recent years, Robin has kept an active social media presence and runs her company 'Chocolate Tiger Productions'. In 2006, Robin released her first solo album (as Robin Power Royal) titled "To My King!", and continues to record and self-release her music (dubbed "Audio Erotica") via her social media.
