The Slickers
Profile: | Jamaican group formed by Sidney Crooks's brother Derrick Crooks and George Agard with Winston Bailey and therefore linked to The Pioneers, although George is adamant that he was never in The Slickers. The group is best known for the song Johnny Too Bad, which featured in the Jimmy Cliff movie The Harder They Come. The first release credited to The Slickers, 'Nana', is actually the Pioneers recording as Johnny Melody & The Slickers (the Pioneers came up with the name as they were under contract to Beverley's Records). Johnny Too Bad appears to be credited to Roy Beckford and Derrick Crooks with Delroy Wilson's brother Trevor Wilson (3) sometimes replaced by Winston Bailey. |
