Probably a dumb question but is the Greg Nice on a lot of T La Rock's tracks the same one from Nice & Smooth? He sounds similar but was just curious.

T La Rock's music had such an influence on me when i first heared the single Breaking Bells/Bass Machine,I could not believe just how heavy the production and Edits were !!! I was aware of Its Yours and what a great track that was but 1986 was my final year at school and when Mantronik was truely king of the beat..Back to burn the next single from the Lyrical King album(the title track is also strong) also blew me away as did most of this killer LP and me and my best friend at the time played it to death! Then came 1988 with the explosion of house and the T La Rock production was never quite the same sounding weaker and much less hard hitting (with the odd album track still sounding ok)...
I still listen to the pre 88 stuff often and it still does it for me 20+ years on (also check "Nitro" an exclusive comp track on Fresh and the T la / Louie Lou produced Mr Wave "The King" for fine examples of Drum Machine Hip Hop that sums up this time for me living in the UK being obsessed of what was happening in the US.
