Hank Cicalo

American sound engineer and producer (25 June 1932, Brooklyn, New York - 31 January 2024, Los Angeles, California).

After serving four years with the US Marine Corps and fighting in the Korean War he attended Audio Visual Technical School in New York. After graduating he moved to Los Angeles, starting his recording career at the Armed Forces Radio Service. In 1957 he started in the mastering room at Capitol Studios where he eventually became staff engineer. In 1963 he moved to RCA Studios, Hollywood and at the end of the sixties worked at Amigo Studios. In 1970 he moved to A&M Studios and also continued working freelance, also recording soundtrack work. During the eighties and nineties he worked a lot at Group IV Recording Studios.

During the sixties he worked closely with producer Tom Mack and with pop group The Monkees He was given a songwriting credit on their album Headquarters out of gratitude for coaching the unexperienced band while recording for RCA. He went on to work closely with the band, touring with them and working on their TV show.

While working on the Blade Runner score, he met his future wife Lynn Cherry. His son from a previous marriage Joe Cicalo also worked as a recording engineer.
