Mondo Vanilli (a.k.a. "MV Inc." or "The Artists Formerly Known As Mondo Vanilli") is largely a parody of a band, created by R.U. Sirius of Mondo 2000 Magazine. Trent Reznor
(of Nine Inch Nails
fame) heard their song "Love Is The Product" at a party and liked it. His label, Nothing Records
, would go on to finance the recording of Mondo Vanilli's album "IOU Babe", with their contract still being worked out. When the album was submitted to Nothing, for unspecified reasons, they elected not to release it. Mondo Vanilli never formally signed with the label, so Nothing had no further obligations with the band. "IOU Babe" remained unreleased, until Mondo Vanilli eventually offered it themselves for free download on the internet.
