I don’t understand why all good things end so quickly?
How to live with it further? A lump in my throat is stuck.

I really wish I had commenting on Lasgo in the 2000s. I miss vocals like Evi and that dancin 'style of Vocal Trance.

Lasgo are the pop-trance version of ABBA.

Their first single, Something, hit European charts in 2001 with an impact that would soon be replicated tenfold with much lesser effort by other acts worldwide. In its original form, Something is a sadly beautiful song of longing love that never reaches the fruition that the singer wishes to be so. It's truly heart breaking, and it's a song that really spoke to me at the time of its release.

This was followed up by Alone, which follows similar feeling. At this point mention must be made of the singer, Evi Goffin. She IS Lasgo (or, to be more precise, WAS Lasgo). Her vocal performance made Lasgo what they were, and it is only right that I mention her this early in this review of Lasgo as she really is the true voice (and of course face) of the band.

Alone, as a song, is strong. Evi sings of being alone, without the person she longs for. Again, it's a bitter-sweet song of longing.

The third single, Pray, is a slightly tougher take on the formula. A very powerful production oversees Evi's lyrics, but her vitriol remains in place.

Lasgo released their debut album with successful sales, and mixed reviews.

Personally, the album is a triumph of genius pop. It outshines many dance albums by a long mile, not only in its production but also in its consistent quality of songwriting.

Standout tracks are You, Blue, Heaven, Follow You, Searching, Cry and I Wonder. That basically covers the entire album, which speaks volumes for the quality of Lasgo.

The follow up album, Far Away, was preceded by the decent single Surrender. Somewhat formulaic, it nonetheless presented an album that would push styles very early.

Track 2, All Night Long, instantly evokes hints of electro house with its off-kilter bassline and funky vibe.

Turn to track 3 for some absolutely classic Lasgo, however. Deep In Your Heart is superb, a strong vocal from Evi and a fantastic production. Beautiful synths flow over a rolling bassline / percussion ensemble.

Only You evokes the 80's synth-pop style of Vince Clarke (Yazoo / Erasure), happy popping synths over rhythmatic bass. Another quality song.

The album continues in a very strong fashion, and it is a pleasure to listen to (as much as the first album).

Unfortunately, for me at least, Lasgo finished when Evi Goffin left Lasgo. Jelle van Dael is a good singer, and I cannot criticise her, but to me Lasgo will always be Evi. Her voice IS Lasgo.

Pure European pop music. A pleasure to listen to!

Lasgo might be comercial but they have some great songs. People should appreciate the fact that they get play on mainstream radio stations since in the USA it is uncommon to hear any techno or trance on the radio.

Lasgo are my idols! I loved them for a year and then they came to Texas to perform live (see pic in the more images page on here). Incredible! They even sang live. Not only does Dave, Evi, and Peter perform well, but they also create some of the greatest "cheese trance" to date! They're right up next to Ian Van Dahl in quality of music. Also when I met them to get my album signed by all of them, they were very down to earth and friendly. This is rare in the EDM scene it seems. By the way, last time I communicated with Peter, they're working on a new single and album. I am definitely waiting very impatiently!

It seems that Lasgo is follwing the trend of others like DJ Sammy and Yanu, Ian Van Dahl, and DJ Encore w/ Engelina. If you like that type of music you should look into Lasgo. Very good music and she has a great voice like Ian Van Dahl.
