Profile: | Isabelle Antena is a French pop and jazz singer. Born on 1960-05-28 in Villepinte near Paris, Isabelle Powaga began her career in the trio Antena on the label Les Disques Du Crépuscule (based in Brussels, Belgium), touring with Paul Haig, Tuxedomoon and Cabaret Voltaire. She then recorded her first solo album in London with Martin Hayles. As a solo artist she became particularly popular in Japan. She has recorded a string of solo albums as Isabelle Antena, as well as under the names Antena, Powaga Sisters and Pause Cafe. In 2003 she featured on Buscemi's album Camino Real, and released a best of, L'alphabet Du Plaisir. In 2006 her song Nothing To Lose appeared on the Thievery Corporation - Versions. She slipped away after her French Riviera album, which was a collaboration with producers from the japanese nu-jazz scene, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Jazztronik, Yukihiro Fukutomi, Tatsuo Sunaga. In 2017 she made a comeback album. Her daughter Penelope Antena has chosen the same pseudonym family name. Fun fact: she used to work as an au pair for Rick Wakeman somewhere in the 1970s.
