As the 1980s progressed the Bay Area’s monopoly on thrash metal had slipped away a new breeds of high octane aggressive bands began to pop up all over the U.S. North Carolina was no exception producing such acts as False Prophet, Aftermath A.D., Confessor and the mighty Corrosion of Conformity. Alongside of these great bands was the shortly lived but memorable Kurupsure.

Kurupsure’s brand of technical thrash finely doused with elements of New York hardcore quickly became a local favorite. Songs like ‘Ravages of War’ were as strong as such classics as ‘Angel of Death’, ‘Peace Sells’, & ‘New Order’. It seemed that the band had the potential to join the frontline of the thrash metal assault on the country. Unfortunately the band would play their last show in ’91 and quickly disappear. In their absence scenes and music trends changed all the while Kurupsure’s fans where left wondering where they went and waiting for their return.
