I think Organic Cloud is a milestone in ambient genre, The Night In Goa always takes my breath away. An atmosphere beyond words. Apart from the gear, obviously, something was different in the air in the 90s, the zeitgeist, I feel it in the records of this era.

On the topic of his disappearance, two polarised comments from youtube I thought I'd share.
everybody is making theories on his disappearance since nobody from his colleagues or friends knows where he or his girlfriend is. The only guy who could shed a light on his whereabouts (owner of the FAX label Pete Namlook) passed away in 2012 from natural reasons. Tetsu's apartment in NY became abandoned to a point that the music equipment he had went on to be sold in an auction (his drum machines etc.). It is believed he went back to Japan to visit his parents and never came back. Either tsunami or an earthquake.

i think he's alive, people close to him would have said something if he indeed had passed away. The fact that none of his close collaborators (ie: Uwe Schmidt) have made any mentions leads me to believe they want to respect his privacy, and he's just being a hermit. One day we'll know I'm sure


Also, here's an interesting thread on this very topic.
+ There's a phenomenon seen mostly in Japan called jouhatsu, read up on it.
+ People also say his Spotify acc is verified and it's a good sign but I don't know how they figured it's verified, it's just there.

Me, I think he is where he needs to be.

Wherever he is, I hope he's safe and sound. I'm glad he made music for us to listen to.

One of his collaborators Andrew Deutsch said he thinks he moved to Spain with his wife.

the last work of Tetsu was at 2012 with Jonah Sharp (Electro Harmonix), in this same year (December) unfortunately Pete Nanlook died too, a big lost of the a greatest genius of ambient music. Johan Sharp is a partner of David Molfang (Move-D) that was a partner of(R.I.P.) Pete Nanlook;Anyone have news about Tetsu ?

This is as good as a venue as any in the continuing search for Tetsu Inoue. I run Infraction in the U.S. and have sent countless emails and made many inquiries as to Tetsu's status or whereabouts. Other concerned artists, label owners, collaborators and friends have been searching with no luck. We hope he is alive and well. If anyone has any information, please get in touch! Thank you.
