Machine Head (3)

Profile:
Machine Head is a Groove Metal band from Oakland, California formed in 1992.

Machine Head was started by the ex-"Vio-Lence" member Robert Flynn and Adam Duce. The band has been plagued by line-up changes and drug abuse since its inception.

Though the band's first album was a success, Machine Head had a series of albums that earned the band criticism for "selling out". With 5 former members, the band nearly disbanded in 2002 after Roadrunner Records dropped them. The band re-signed soon after and had a stable line-up from 2003-2013. In February of 2013 it was announced that after 21 years Duce left the band leaving Flynn the only remaining original member. In 2018 after the tour of the album "Catharsis" both Dave McClain and Phil Demmel left the band and in the following year Flynn announced a 25th anniversary tour of the band debut album "Burn My Eyes", where the band would play 2 sets, one performing the "Burn My Eyes" record in its entirety, featuring former members Logan Mader and Chris Kontos joining him and Jared, and another set where the band would perform other MH songs, with Robb and Jared being joined by guitarist Wacław Kiełtyka (of Decapitated) and drummer Matt Alston (of Sanctorum).

In 2007 Machine Head had a Grammy Award nomination for their album "The Blackening".

Wow These guys rock!

Have seen these guys play live a couple of times now, but man they can rock. Well put together guitar solo's, lyrics about something else than b*tches or f*cking, a voice that can both sing soft rock and scream metal and drums that you never forget.
All just as good live as on the albums.

I have to admit, the "Burning Red" album was a lot softer than all other ones, but still a nice album to listen to. You can start introducing Machine Head to your girlfriend with this album before she dumps you for letting her hear the other ones. The first album was a bit rough for me, the voice of Robert Flynn was still in development (compare it to one of the latest album and you'll agree), but still it layed the groundwork and directed the style Machine Head wanted to be in.
The "Supercharger" album was a real energizer and the last two, "Trough The Ashes Of Empires" and "The Blackening" will blow you away. Please listen to the tracks "Descend The Shades Of Night" and "Halo", these are my absolute favorite (and not just from Machine Head).

Listen to it, become a fan, see a show and you'll never leave!
