i don't get why are those demo tapes being deleted, so what they were not made for distribution? a ton of artists made even 1/1 quantity tapes and never sold them (or sold them many years after being recorded). I don't get the point, you could argue that even promo pressings limited to like 5 copies weren't meant for sale or distribution, its stupid that someone goes out of their way to delete something that was here for years and had a proper bio because 'REEE I CANT BUY IT SO WH Y IS IT HE RE >: ( (('

Neutral Milk Hotel was one of the early bands to come from The Elephant 6 Recording Co.. The band first took form in 1989 when Jeff Mangum, Will Cullen Hart, and Bill Doss formed a trio. The trio moved to Georgia where they named the band Cranberry Life Cycle which would eventually be named the The Olivia Tremor Control. But before the name change, Mangum had left the band and went to New York, and took the name Neutral Milk Hotel with him. While in New York, Mangum recorded multiple demo tapes (Beauty, Invent Yourself a Shortcake, and Hype City Soundtrack). Mangum then traveled to Colorado and visited Robert Schneider of The Apples in Stereo and there they made On Avery Island in 1996. In 1997, Mangum went back to Schneider in Colorado where they made In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.
