Played in big bands with leaders such as Elliot Lawrence 1946, Claude Thornhill and Sam Donahue. Recorded with Charles Mingus in 1953 and 1959, and toured with him 1956-1957. Played with Benny Goodman and Woody Herman in 1958, joined Buddy Rich's quintet in 1959. He played with Gerry Mulligan & The Concert Jazz Band in the early 1960s.
Married to Morgana King.
