I've been saying for years that Mouse on Mars are electronic music genius. The way in which they sneak melodies, and harmonies within their experimental sound is brilliant. Each album is a new progression, and vary in concept, yet stays 100% true to the Mouse on Mars sound. The way they use sounds, is so interesting, and wonderful to listen to. They are very underrated, and often overlooked, but have been very influential in my taste in electronic music growing up.

They've very "hit or miss" with me - some of their singles are outstanding but none of their albums have been consistent enough for me to enjoy all the way through. :/

No words for Mouse on Mars yet? That is impossible. It is my very pleasure to present an exceptional group of electronic music scientists.
Mouse on Mars are the champions of creating totally freaked out and intelligent sound dimensions without forgetting about making great music.
Their songs are rich on ideas, surprising elements and a sound design that will tickle your synapses 'til you smile.
I am talking about impossible rhythmic constructions and harmonies, deep and playful at the same time. Easy moods could unexpectedly work themselves up into a climax of complete destruction without hurting your ears. In some songs you are likely to find very subtly used elements which you expect other artists to build complete hits around, how cool is that?
The albums can nevertheless vary considerably in concept, so if you are new to their ideas, it is probably recommendable to give every album a chance of it's own, starting with the very first releases from the 90's. Open your mind. You won't regret it.
Thank you Mouse on Mars!

December 17, 2020Especially after seeing them "live" what in fact was a blatant DJ set, further ruined their enigmatic, often pointed out academic approach to music making. Because what indeed sounded interesting and mysteriously quirky on their records, a cheap DJ set presentation was downright dilettantish, adding to it the audience acting cool over anything clicks-and-cuts, and suddenly I felt like a piece of paper burning under a magnifying glass of hype.
