Question for all...has anyone seen the SD wooden box set that was a German Import? I have it and I am trying to find the value of it.

Who is older Mike Ness,Tesco Vee, or Glenn Danzig? I'm betting on GD at 65! Also,Jello Biafra is older than all of them! Who cares what they did in the past, the future really counts!!!

Mike Ness was a real punk, I think was better not to meet his gang around '81..
At the meantime SD's music is different from any punk band of those years: it's not hardcore, but pure pop, tought not in the way of Adolescents and Agent Orange with their roots in surfin'; nor TSOL or Descendents that played so faster.. Yeah, also Bad Religion played faster, but it's clear there's a connection with their early works. Who was the first band to influence the other one I don't know and, in any case, who really cares?
But after many years it's more important there's a plenty of good old american sound 'round here. I think that after the first super hardcore records, the always critically acclaimed Hüsker Dü and the Replacements pay a lot of tributes to the sound of Social Distortion. And as any listener with good ears could never think to connect the word 'pop' in its commercial, negative meanings with those two great Minneapolis bands, I suggest to separate the SD's lesson from any other corporate punk shit selling millions of records starting from the nineties..

There`s a constant wave of punk rock, 80s hardcore, alternative rock, rockabilly...even cowpunk as (some of the) genres that have been associated with Social Distortion and Mike Ness.

...If Chuck Biscuits was in The Misfits, Johnny Two Bags was in Cadillac Tramps, Youth Brigade and U.S.Bombs...there`s a lot of connections you can associate in the realm of the band`s music. They`ve toured with Neil Young, Sonic Youth--headlined Hootenanny multiple times and Mike Ness has been covered by people like Bruce Springsteen. Bands now like Gaslight Anthem, you can trace it through Somewhere Between Heaven And Hell.

Records-wise, they`re very collectible in the punk and hardcore realm, especially the original vinyl singles/EPs collected on `Mainliner`...but they`ve racked up a lot of gems and cool things, just because they`ve been around for thirty years now.
