Will there be a new entry for the "Walmart Exclusive" versions of their studio albums? They look to me like the same vinyls from Europe released in 2014...with the added "Replica Tour Laminate"
The Eagles took a lot of things happening in music and combined them into a marketable image, and were successful at what they did: Mainstreaming the various forms of country-rock, folk-rock that came out of the late 1960s. They were not innovative, just opportunistic, and thus, made a lot of money in a short amount of time. To say that purists are jealous is to miss the point entirely. They have enough money for their grandchildren to go to Ivy League schools while the purists can be proud to not have compromised their art for retail sales. Everybody wins. The purists make better music, the opportunists make better bank.
The Eagles are for me one of the most overplayed, overrated, boring highly successful acts in music history. For some reason their bland brand of country-infused rocks resonates with mass audiences. Bandmembers Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Randy Meisner, and others have released equally uninteresting material away from the band. The Eagles are really more of a product and a corporate marketing concept than they are a band. My recomendation is to avoid their music at all costs.
