Tired of depending on other people to play music, Sergi conceived The Destroyed Room as a solo project to enjoy recording his own songs at home, in Barcelona. After two years writing about girls, alcohol and the fear of wasting his life away, he decided to team up with a couple of friends to form a real band in the last months of 2008. Víctor (Reaction-Reaction!, Golpe Mortal) and Borja (who played with Sergi in Molokai for two years) joined him in this adventure. In only a year they released two records. First came "Cringe For Two Years In...", their first 8-song EP, and three months after, a split record with friends of (Shortfin) Mako Shark. In an effort to share their music, they released a free download compilation in June 2009 called "The First Six Months", which featured two versions of "1989" and "It’s All Happening". After a couple months of writing new material and playing shows, they released a new EP, "The Eastern Winds", in the spring of 2010. In July of the same year, they gave away a digital 3-track release entitled "Circle Of Friends EP".
Carlos Crespo joined the band as their permanent drummer and in 2011 they released the 4-song 12" EP "The Huge Mistakes", followed by their first full-length album, "The Magic Indian Scene", released on March 23, 2012.
After touring Spain and Germany, they took a break to record "Minnesota", a 5-song EP, more acoustic-oriented than their recent works. It was released in the beginning of 2013. And celebrating 2013's Record Store Day, they released a limited box set of tapes with all their material plus some extra songs.
A second full-length was released in 2014, titled "The Dark Of The Sun".
