The Institute of Ape Culture

Real Name:
Josh Thomson
The I.o.A.C made its legendary live debut with WIDER at the Garage in 2003 and have never looked back since. Members of the I.o.A.C include "Dj General Spinochet" and rock super-group "He and the Instruments of Oblivion". Following on from a rioutous joint tour of Brasil The I.o.A.C. has managed to persuade He to part with a new track for the forthcoming WIDER003 vinyl compilation.
The I.o.A.C makes a hard and fast music influenced by a mix of Bass heavy ragga jungle, electronica and early 80's video arcades. The I.o.A.C can always be found rooting for old Marvelous Cain or Herbie Mann records in a record shop near you.
Living in exile throughout the 1980's and 90's General Spinochet was taken in by WIDE and given a chance to play records for beer. His legenday 5 hour Miles Davis set and early evening Free Jazz and Jungle sessions have earnt him a place in the hearts of many.
