Known for performing bare foot and wearing Moo Moo's (an ankle length dress-like garment). Various bands include Universal Power, Moon-Minglewood, Sun Machine, The Power Unit with Ritchie Oakley and The Sam Moon Band.

Has released various singles over the years. Released album "New Moon" in 1982 with musicians from the Halifax band "Sun Machine" who were his backing band at that time. Five members of previous band went out on their own as "The Battery".

Over the years Sam has shared stages with such greats as; ZZ Top, The Guess Who, The Doobie Brothers, Sass Jordan, The Band, The Atlanta Rhythm Section, Delbert McClinton, and The Beach Boys.
