Garage+Psychedelic RockPop band, formed in Niles, Michigan, USA, in 1960.
They had two No. 1 singles in the U.S., "Hanky Panky" (July 1966) and "Crimson and Clover" (February 1969), and also charted twelve other Top 40 hits, including five in the Hot 100's top ten: "I Think We're Alone Now", "Mirage", "Mony Mony", "Sweet Cherry Wine", and "Crystal Blue Persuasion".
They disbanded in 1970.

Why is there a duplicate listing with only one LP listed and a few singles, when there is a comprehensive listing with the exact same name (given here)

Tommy James wrote a book called 'Me, the Mob, and the Music: One Helluva Ride with Tommy James & The Shondells ' It's a great read!

One of the best bands of the 60s and early 70s. How is Tommy James not in the R&R Hall of Fame? Must be politics. People who covered him are in there. Unbelievable. Check his early solo stuff too if you've never given it a try.
